A crummy continuation to a crummy day.

Today was one of those days.
One of those days when the only thing that gets me out of bed is the thought that I don't have to wake up at 5:30am the next day.
One of those days when I don't want to be a teacher ever again.
One of those days when you are helping with a school cook out and the person in charge is crazy. So we have to serve buns that are moldy to starving teenagers. And a teacher who should be helping sits there eating a hamburger and a hot dog and chicken while 3 other teachers are trying to control and feed 100 starving teenagers.
One of those days when you are driving to your friends house to host a baby shower for her and you have to stop suddenly so you don't crash into the car in front of you and the most delicious food you made for the shower goes flying off the back seat onto the floor and front seat.

(What I wasn't able to scoop up while stopped at the red light)

(what I was able to scoop up off the floor)

So then you have to stop at the grocery store to buy more food. And you show up to your friend's house after the first guest arrives and you have nothing set up.
One of those days where you get to end the crummy day with friends and food and fun. And the cute banner I made to celebrate my friend's bun in the oven!

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

So there I was driving home from work. I merged into the turning lane so I could turn left. When all of a sudden I noticed a man in a suit hanging out the window of a black suburban with a U.S. Government license plate. He was yelling at me and the car beside me to stop. So I stopped. (you can see his hand. I was too scared to take a picture while he was hanging out the window in case he would have to confiscate my camera). As you can see by the picture there is space for about 4 cars to fit between me and the car in front of me. He continued to hang out the window. I was waiting to see what would happen when the light turned green. What was going down? I had my camera ready just in case....
Then the light turned green. So I waited... And... the suburban drove straight through the intersection. What? I was so confused. And annoyed. Who was the important person in the fancy car in front of the suburban that couldn't have anyone be next to them?
Weird. VERY weird.

I Love long weekends

I just got back from probably the BEST Memorial Day Weekend yet. We played games like Skip-Bo, Cranium, Musical Catchphrase, Blink, and a painful 5 hour long game of Phase 10. We ate delicious food like corn on the cob, hamburgers, french toast, grilled chicken, pancakes, smores, apple dumplings, and taco soup. I got sun burned in places like my ears, face, calves, knee pits, shoulders, and arms. So fun. Wish we could do it again next weekend. Minus the bed that creaked every time we breathed. And the sky light that made our bedroom seem like it was noon at 6am. One day I am going to own a lake (or ocean) house that looks like this:

Wanna come visit me next Memorial Day Weekend?

Hello Goodbuy

I was heading to the post office before it closed when I noticed the grand opening of a grocery store. They had signs for special deals which included watermelons for $2.99. I have an eternal love for watermelon and haven't had one this year so I had to stop by. They had milk for 99 cents. a dozen eggs for 59 cents. pineapples for $1.99. It was an International Food Market so some of the other things were quite nasty. Like dried squid right next to the milk. Yick. And this at the check out. Am I the only one that is confused about the apple juice?

I wanted to take pictures of all the nasty things but there were people EVERYWHERE and didn't want to be kicked out before purchasing my watermelons.

Here is what I purchased for the fabulous price of $26.48.
Oh- and I got a free bottle of water.

What a deal!

A couple weeks ago I posted about movies that make me cry. I would like to add another one.
Young @ Heart. It made me laugh. And boy did it make me cry. And cry. And cry. Even the credits made me cry. (you will have to see it to find out why)
I had never even heard about it but my friend Anitra asked if I wanted to go see it with her. I had seen a video of them from You Tube and thought that was funny so agreed. I think you all need to see it.
And to help put you in the mood-

Reason #1- I will NOT miss Virginia.

Traffic.
When I was home this summer I was going somewhere and my Mom said "If you leave now you will hit traffic." I just laughed. and laughed. and laughed. She then realized what she said and who she said it to. You have not experienced traffic until you have experienced Washington DC traffic. And it gets worse when it rains. Or snows. Or there is an accident and everyone has to slow down to see what happened. I hate wasting time. So I have been known to crochet, read, talk on the phone, take pictures, eat, makes lists, grade papers, clean my car, and so much more while sitting in traffic.

In case you were wondering....

I did stay home from work that day (Wednesday). I actually had Friday off too. Well sorta. I went to Hershey, PA with the choral and band students for a competition. We met at the school at 5:30am. And arrived back at school at 10 pm. It was pouring rain until 3:30. 2 other teachers and I tried to stay dry by hanging out in Chocolate World for about 2 hours. I think my feet started to mold they were so wet. Saturday I slept in and took 2 naps. The only time I left the house was to buy more cough syrup. Sunday I left church early because I couldn't stop coughing and took a nap. I decided to take Monday off as well. After downing half a bottle of cough syrup and taking a 2 hour nap I was hoping things would begin to improve. And this morning I felt like GOLD when I woke up. The cough is still there. I was in a meeting and was coughing and coughing and coughing. Everyone was asking if I was okay. I think they thought I was crazy when I said I was feeling the best I had in the past 11 days.

Over 2 weeks ago I put in to take THIS Friday off- just for fun. Do I still take it even though I haven't been in school 4 of the last 7 days? Decisions. Decisions.

My Mom.

Happy Mother's Day!
Our ward's munch and mingle today was dedicated to our Mother's. We were asked to bring food that reminds us of our Mom's. So I made...
(sorry for the bad picture... I took it with my cell phone)
Orange Jell-o with mandarin oranges and shredded carrots. My Mom used to always make this. Before she had grandchildren and son-in-laws that won't eat jell-o that has stuff in it. It is always the big Mormon joke of bringing jello with shredded carrots... but I like it. Although I have never made it before and haven't had it in YEARS. And I actually didn't get to eat any today as I left church early because I couldn't stop coughing.

Mom- I love you and I am grateful for all that you have done for me.
Thank you for teaching me how to:
sew
clean
cook
bake
laugh
drive
make a bed
sweep
pray
iron
garden
shop
and so much more.
And Happy Mother's Day to all my sisters who are also mother's. You are all amazing. Thank you for your wonderful examples.
